There are two common forms of iron used in Iron supplements - Iron Bisglycinate and Iron Sulfate. ¹ ² ³ ⁴
Iron Bisglycinate is in ferrous (Fe2+) form which makes it more readily absorbed, as the body only absorbs Iron in Fe2+ form.
Our iron also has fewer and milder side effects than other irons, such as less constipation and gastrointestinal symptoms. On the other hand, Iron Sulfate andIron Fumerate are salts of iron that have lower absorption and higher toxicity than Iron Bisglycinate.¹ ² ³ ⁴
